Program Notes:

Blues for Laurie was first written as the third of my Four Preludes for solo piano in the fall of 1999. It was a tribute to my dear friend and teacher, Laurie Altman, a wonderful composer and jazz pianist. I adapted the work in 2003 for the bassoonist Alexandra Eastley who premiered this version in Montréal in 2004. It was subsequently recorded later that year by Nadina Mackie Jackson and pianist David Swan on her album Notes from Abroad.  It has also been arranged for violin & piano.  The work was also adapted for violin & piano.
